Description

This is a bundled set of my differentiated Reading Response Journals 1-4, plus a BONUS Nonfiction Reading Response Journal. Each journal corresponds to student reading levels ranging from DRA A-28 (Guided Reading Levels A-M) and can be used all year long. Students move from one response journal to the next as their independent reading level changes. I use them in packets and students work on them independently after reading each book, but they can also be used as a center, for guided reading, homework or even an early finisher activity (perfect for when you’re doing assessments and you need the rest of the class to be quietly working!). These response journals are ideal for any teacher working with students reading at a wide range of reading levels.

Each journal comes as a separate document and is in black and white for easy printing.

This resource is intended to be familiar so students can work independently each time, therefore the response portions of each journal are meant to be repeated in the form of a packet.

The bundle includes:
Reading Journal 1 (DRA Levels A-6 or Guided Reading A, B, C, D) response portion is 1 page and consists of book title, date, drawing and book rating.

Reading Journal 2 (DRA Levels 8-12 or Guided Reading E, F, G) response portion is 1 page and consists of book title, date, drawing, book summary and book rating.

Reading Journal 3 (DRA Levels 14-18 or Guided Reading H, I, J) response portion is 2 pages and consists of book title, date, author, book level, beginning/middle/end summary, author’s message, connections and opinion.

Reading Journal 4 (DRA Levels 20-28 or Guided Reading K, L, M) response portion is 3 pages and consists of book title, date, author, book level, making predictions, vocabulary, beginning/middle/end summary, author’s message, reflection and opinion.

This bundle also includes a binder cover page (to store your copy masters in), an exclusive nonfiction reading response, student packet cover pages (1 per level so you can tell them apart), and a reading conference note page (observations/strengths/goals).
