Digital Stickers for Kids in the Classroom

When I was in elementary school, one of my favorite special prizes was to get a sticker on my work. My favorite stickers were the scratch n’ sniff kind, and I can still remember how excited I would get over a root beer sticker. Whether you’re teaching in school or distance learning, there’s one thing that will remain the same. Students need motivation. Stickers can be a quick and simple solution to provide feedback and basic rewards, even in the digital age. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to add these digital stickers in both Seesaw and in Google Classroom, right on top of student work just like a real sticker.

If you’re using Seesaw, your first step is to assign the work to your students. After students have submitted an assignment, you can open it to review. In the Journal section of your Seesaw dashboard, select the student. Find the assignment you want to review. Find the 3 dots on the bottom right of the assignment (you may need to scroll down to see the 3 dots), click them, then click Edit Post.

After you click Edit Post, you’ll see the completed assignment from the student. Click the camera tool on the right and then click Upload.

After you click upload, you’ll need to find the digital stickers. Only you know where you saved them after you purchased them, and you can do that here.

Select the folder called Sticker Images. When you open it, you’ll find .png files. These are the digital sticker files. Choose the sticker you want to add to student work.

Once you’ve chosen your sticker, you can move, resize and rotate it to whatever looks right to you. After you have it where you want it, don’t forget to click the green checkmark in the upper right hand corner to save it.

If you’re using Google Classroom, find the submitted assignment you want to review. Open the folder of sticker files and select the sticker you want. Drag it right onto the slide.

Once you have the sticker where you want it on the slide, click the blue Return button in the upper right hand corner to save and return the work to your student so they can see the sticker.
